Prayers had been asked for him at an amateur boxing event in
Austin while he was ill a couple weeks Joe Sousa's arrival set the positive tone
for the night. He is currently fighting cancer yet his arrival early when
the boxers were arriving set a tone. The judges score cards would only be
used twice and the a whole host of dramas played out. Randy's Ballroom was
filled to capacity as a pent up demand finally had some place to go. It as
a venue represents a DC-9 not quite state of the art not quite big but still
functional. All seats it appeared were taken.
For the snake bitten start Jorge Saurez seemed to have a desire to make up for lost time. The first round I had close to a 10-9

In the 2nd round the feeling of inevitably was palatable early on Dale Bates while quiet and dignified like Ron Simms quite frankly did not have the power or the armor to deal with Jorge Suarez. The fight ended in the 4th round 41 seconds into it. Jorge's power had taken its toll on Bates.
It was the last chance for one and an opportunity to make an 0 go away from another. Steven Hall who has been winless at 0-2 made an 0 disappear

In the first Ramiro was dropped and in the second round he was dropped again by Stephen Hall. The fight ended 25 seconds into round 2.
It looked promising early for Clint Herrera....it wound up not being Miguel Buendia was Miguel Mal Noche

By the 2nd round Miguel's body attack took its toll and 1:48 of round 2 it was over
Saul Amaya fell victim to a solid body attack 2:15 of round1. Felipe Castenda with a body shot that thundered like an artillery shell stopped him cold.

After during an intermission Joe Sousa showed lots of class standing up twice though fighting cancer and the bouts had been clean and well fought Roy Ovalle decided to mess up a good night of boxing. First I shot a whole lot of pictures so I will not claim to be perfect so I give a wide window of possibilities. What I saw was a close fight that could have gone either way. 39-37 for Anita Rodriguez and other score card 39-37 in favor of Celina Salazar also fell within the window of what I had seen. Celina Salazar fought hard!

The trouble was Roy Ovalle's 40-36 score in favor of Celina Gallery of the Bout many additional photos
Juan Diaz,Lou Duva,Raul Martinez and others were part of an auction during a break between bouts that yielded over $1,000 for Oscar Diaz's bills. Several autographed boxing gloves and posters were auctioned off.
The Next Bout of the Evening did Not Live up the hype James Cantu was expecting a fight from Forest Curry what he got was less then a workout it ended in under 40 seconds period!

Notice how Cantu looks after the.......
It was a Draw pure and simple my notes have Isidro Arreola winning the first three rounds Eloy Winning the next batch and a couple up in the air. Roy Ovalle did not dissapoint as a judge giving the fight soundly to Isidro
