The following is a parody of Low Flight a poem my father no doubt was familiar with as an Army Aviator who flew TH-55, UH-1 (practically all models in Army Inventory of it) OH-6, OH-13 He flew all those in combat, Bell 47 the boss of his boss gave Kris Kristofferson the ultimatum that changed history in the mid to late 1970s added the OH-58 in the 1980s added AH-1 Cobra and in the 1990s CH-47. I cut my teeth in FTW and ERV the following poem is loving parody of the Cessna 150 flight expirence
CESSNA 150 flight Parody by Esteban Erik Stipnieks
Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
Climbed anemically on strut braced high wings
Struggling for altitude I caught a thermal in the Gaudalupe Valley
Mastered the art of thumbing rides on thermals
On a hot and high Kerrville day
Having caught air going my direction I soared
Watched my VSI indicate a climb of nearly 800 feet per minute
Near Comfort I was high enough to practice stalls and enjoyed the Cessna slop
Performed semi steep turns with the howl of the 0-200 leaned to peak performance at full throttle
On crosscountry flights I watched time go by with little country side
In Texas skies I've smiled at indicated airspeed of 80
And shouted Wow what a fun cheap flight date!
