How's The Hope and Change Working For You Now? Will you put your Money where your Mouth Is?
Essay by Esteban Erik Stipnieks
Hope, change, I get this feeling going up my leg! Ahh isn’t rank ignorance bliss. We have had stimulus, health care reform, financial reform(in negotiation), and now we are dealing with potentially cap and trade. We have a record number of people on feed stamps and over a year and real unemployment well. Today I write this the stock market has dipped below 10,000 again I do not know its current status. I am going to make an arrogant proposal. It’s called the free speech accountability proposal. This would apply to universities and private sector businesses alike not to end free speech but those professing to be wise must eat first the fruit of their speech.
For university campuses, and private businesses now facing a whole host of increased costs we have found out that while Obama was saying health care reform would reduce insurance premiums while the HHS was him otherwise, the expiration of Bush tax cuts, and a reduction in the charitable donation dedication well costs are going up while sales and donations are not. This is putting small businessmen, employers of all kinds, and university campuses in a bind as graduates are finding less then a stellar work world to enter a dramatic increase in costs of providing health care insurance etc. So to reduce these costs I am proposing the solution.
Through salary cuts employment cuts all businesses reduce their costs to offset the financial effects of Obama policies those who advocated those policies the loudest should bear the brunt. I am not so opposed to free speech but free speech as consequences. Health care reform surprise surprise surprise going to increase not decrease cost. Cap and trade if implemented will increase cost of energy to campi and university. If you used your free speech to advocate those policies you should with your wallet pay for the implications of those policies. If their hours cut the bulk of those employees who advocated for health care reform and cap and trade should pay the price. If the cost of employer provided health care goes up those who advocated for it should take the most severe pay cuts first. Or if there are lay offs…..fire first those who advocated for policies that drove it. On a college campus hey the most vocal Obama proponents as professors should be the ones who pay with their wallets the checks written by their mouths.
Also I would recommend students who have incurred debt that are now facing a negative employee environment should sue the university campi if the bulk of professors advocated for Obama policies which are dragging the economy. I would also like to see admissions staffers sued for fraud in indicating that wisdom could be attained at the university since there were many sources of information indicating that the policies of Obama administration would hinder and slow down job growth and reduce not increase standard of living. By increasing costs of hiring new people to private sector employers the policies advocated by professors who supported Obama poisoned the work environment the graduates would be heading into. It would be an interesting case to go before a jury.
I am not opposed to free speech but if the policies you advocate for have adverse effects you should pay the piper. If a professor indoctrinates students in the classroom and the students did what the professor said and the institution long suffered like a doctor in a malpractice suit hold the professor financially accountable. If an employee acted contrary to the financial interest of their employer that employee is little different then a person who brought harm to the company in an other form. Those who were opposed Obama should suffer the least from the environment his policies created. Those who advocated the harmful policies should bear the brunt of the suffering. Sorry I am being too logical.
