Patricia Cuevas: in the song like a Rock Bob Seger speaks of senior year looking forward to and pursuing dreams. 19 years old though losing in the finals in state she on the way defeated a major favorite winning hope and cheers along the way. February her senior year Roosevelt high shool.  In the boxing world she wears two hats coach and boxer.  This Roosevelt Rough Rider has received an invitation to compete against an Army boxer at the Armed forces boxing championships. 

There is a group in the female boxing world firey competitive aggressive in the ring who reveal nothing of this outside the ring. Like Celina Salazar outside the ring Patricia Cuevas reveals very little of what she is inside the ring. Her record stands as testimony to her feisty nature winning several bouts I have witnessed by RSC. Her and her brother also first brother and sister champions San Antonio Regional Golden Gloves.

In 2009 she wanted to be with her brothers surprised at first at the difficulty of the sport then enthralled with the challenge she had her first bout and was hooked.

After the LBCs she defeated Alexandra Cardenas in an upset only in a fight regarded fondly by those who saw it in the finals. In doing so she picked up praise from an outside of San Antonio boxing observer.

Patricia’s dreams include St Phillips Exercise science personal trainer maybe pro as a boxer maybe remaining as amateur and coach. Patricia Cuevas is currently certified as a level one amateur coach. She has much of the potential to be a good trainer and mentor or others.

Fast Cats boxing club is a neighborhood gym located in the shadow of the San Antonio Institution KTSA. It is a home gym modest compared Randazzo it’s starting out its amateurs only. As she trained for her armed forces bout she was intense and focused. She also coached a couple boxers as well.

She is Roosevelt Rough Rider she is young woman with dreams and hopes. I have written about high school senior year.  The level 1 coaching certification is not given out easily and it is earned and carries with it responsibility.  A loving sister as well tough determined if she goes pro cool…if she remains an amateur both as coach and competitor cool too. She has physical talent aggressiveness in the ring a desire to serve mentor in the corner or wearing the mitts. It’s hard not to too root for her as a boxer a coach or person. If she continues in coaching competing and her ways that are the antithesis of the sluts of Jersey shore, or the negative images girls face. In the world of Jersey shore Kardassians, and even Miley Cyrus all of it porn pop. We can only hope that Patricia Cuevas remains more a throw back to When Emmy Lou Harris was just starting out.
